Rather than phrase strategies for sustainable production, dissemination, and consumption, I’ll approach my visual practice to form a sustainable (post)human becoming.

You know how a memory can be strongly connected to a photograph? To the point that you’re not sure if you’re remembering the actual event or merely the photograph. This brings up themes of subjectivity, materiality, and non-human agents.

In an anthropocentric view of the world, the dichotomy between nature and culture is relevant to a point; separating that which is man-made from all that appears naturally. That might form understanding in certain circumstances, but it is also a very simplified and romanticised view.

Let me lead with a disclaimer dressed as a paradox; I will use this essay to both scratch the surface and dive into the deep end of the pool. I’ll make a novice attempt at using the concept of non-human agencies (Callon, 2012) to critically analyze and provide insight to my own photographic practice as well as photographic and artistic affinities of mine.
